What types of awnings are there?
An awning mainly consists of a support tube, fabric roller, cassette, and awning fabric, which is extended and retracted using folding arms. Because the front profiles include a joint in the middle, this type is known as a folding-arm awning. Typically, two folding arms ensure smooth operation, while wider awnings may use three for added stability.
Folding-arm awnings are available in three main types: open, semi-cassette, and cassette awnings. These categories refer to the cassette mounted on the facade. In open awnings, the fabric rolls directly onto the fabric roller without additional protection. Semi-cassette awnings partially enclose the fabric and mechanism, protecting them from above and the front. Cassette awnings, however, fully enclose the folding arms and fabric inside a closed cassette, offering maximum protection from weather and dirt.
Special awnings for special requirements
Awnings are not only used for shading patios. Conservatories and patio roofs can also be effectively protected from the sun with specially designed awnings that integrate seamlessly into the structure. Depending on the building design and specific needs, side awnings and vertical awnings provide excellent sun and glare protection.
