Rollomatic® SK for retrofitting

The elegantly designed WGB PERGOLA Zip awning features a durable powder-coated aluminum frame and a large steel roller tube for smooth, effortless operation. A floating zipper system within the guide rails, combined with a maintenance-free tension mechanism, keeps the fabric stable with minimal sagging.

Thanks to its full perimeter tension, the awning is sealed on all sides, reducing light gaps and providing maximum sun protection. An optional crank feature allows one side to be lowered slightly, ensuring proper water drainage during light rain and preventing water build-up.

Burglar-resistant and weather-resistant

The robust construction of this roller shutter includes an integrated anti-lift device for enhanced security. A stylish aluminum fascia with multiple folds ensures both strength and an elegant appearance, while slim, weather-resistant guide rails add a modern architectural touch.

A wide range of color options allows for individual design, and a practical cleaning opening makes it easy to maintain the shutter from inside the building—even on upper floors.

Future-oriented propulsion thanks to solar

The Rollomatic SK 40 offers both convenience and environmental benefits. Its solar-powered version uses an integrated solar cell to run the roller shutter, relying only on sunlight for energy. This makes it eco-friendly and removes the need for a separate electrical connection. You save energy and money, and installation is easier. Since it works wirelessly, there’s no need for electrical wiring or drilling, so setup is cleaner and less work. You can install the Rollomatic SK 40 in places where wiring isn’t possible or allowed. Because it runs independently from the main power supply, it will keep working during a power outage, thanks to its solar battery.

Bogena® round roller shutter system – visually a well-rounded solution

The Bogena® round roller shutter combines reliable technology with a modern look, offering both functionality and style for a variety of architectural settings. Its distinctive round housing stands out, especially in new buildings, and lends a unique character to contemporary facades. With its compact size, attractive shape, and a wide range of colors to choose from, the Bogena fits smoothly into any facade and adds a stylish touch that enhances the overall appearance of your home or building. This innovative system is built on the trusted Rollomatic®SK 40, the patented classic from SMO BAUELEMENTE, ensuring long-lasting reliability and superior performance for years to come.

Ideal light incidence at all times

You have full control over how much light comes into your home. When the roller shutter is closed, it blocks out light completely. If you open it a little, it lets in just the right amount of filtered light. You can adjust it to suit your needs.

Comfortable operation of the roller shutters

No matter if you are relaxing on the sofa, in the bedroom, or in the kitchen, smart roller shutter systems make your home more comfortable. With motorized features and simple controls, your shutters can move on their own with little effort from you.

Drive options - comfortable and safe

The Rollomatic® SK 40 and Bogena® offer a range of operating options to suit your needs. You can choose from a reliable safety hand crank, a practical 230-volt electric motor with optional remote control, or an environmentally friendly radio-controlled solar drive. Each option is designed to provide comfort and safe operation.

Roller shutter for retrofitting with integrated insect screen roller blind

If you like, we can add an insect screen roller blind to the Rolllomatic® SK 40 and Bogena® roller shutters. The screen fits neatly into the shutter head and is made from strong fiberglass mesh that lets in plenty of light. You can keep your window open for fresh air without worrying about insects coming in.

Exterior roller shutters: Roller shutters for retrofitting

The functions of roller shutters are often underestimated. In addition to darkening rooms, they provide burglary protection, thermal insulation, energy savings, and effective shading. Roller shutters also reduce noise and shield window glass from weather conditions such as hail or heavy rain. As a result, they significantly enhance both the security and energy efficiency of a building.

Advantages of external roller shutters

You can easily add roller shutters to both older and newer buildings. An external roller shutter is a ready-made unit that fits on the outside of your window. This type of installation has several benefits. It does not require major construction work, and it keeps the building’s structure untouched. It also helps prevent thermal bridging. Overall, using an external roller shutter is a more energy-efficient and cost-effective option than installing a traditional roller shutter with an internal shutter box.

Quality matters

Exterior roller shutters made for retrofitting offer the same high quality as integrated models. They provide reliable thermal insulation, security, and shading, meeting the same standards as traditional roller shutters without sacrificing quality or safety. If you are considering a retrofit roller shutter, there are a few important things to keep in mind. Because roller shutters serve many purposes, the design, materials, and installation all play a big role in how well they work and how long they last. For good burglary protection, weather resistance, sound insulation, and thermal performance, retrofit roller shutters need careful planning and quality construction.

Burglary protection through external roller shutters

Roller shutters need to be strong and stable so they can handle wind and weather for many years. Good airtightness is important for saving energy and blocking noise. Since these shutters are mounted outside the window, retrofitted models should also help prevent break-ins. It’s best to choose a shutter with a solid housing and an anti-lift device.

Design and appearance of the front-mounted roller shutter

When adding a roller shutter later on, it should look good and fit in with the building’s style. External roller shutters work well for this because their slim guide rails and smart design keep them compact. Using high-quality materials for the profiles and fascia helps them last longer, protect better, and look attractive. Being able to choose a color is also important, as it lets you match the shutters to your personal taste and the building’s design for a unified appearance.
